More film. Minolta xg7, California.
I’m obsessed with the Arizona night sky. I’ll admit it. Taken near flagstaff on a camping trip, about 2 minute exposure.
Also taken last night, my friends and I had to walk through desert brush, and hop a barb wire fence to get to this place, but it was defiantly worth the long creepy walk there. I look back to all my favorite photos that I have ever taken and almost all of them are way off the beaten path. You have to be willing to go places everyone else is too lazy to go to see something good. 90 second exposure, 200 iso, and an aperture of 3.5.
Here’s one that I took last night on my way to some western town in the desert. Over the years of taking photos, I’ve found that I’m bias towards night shots. There’s so much mystery in the idea of night. Especially in an Arizona desert. I believe this was a 45 second exposure.
A couple of months ago my mom showed me some of the photos that she had taken with her Minolta x700 and it really inspired me to start shooting with film again. It’s terribly inconvenient and extremely expensive, but I really love it. Not only for the way it looks, but I find that I really have to think through every photo I take, otherwise it’s a waste of money. This is from my first roll coming back into the world of film, shot in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where I spent my summers as a kid.
I guess that I’ll start it off with one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. I went to college this last semester up in Idaho, and the Tetons were a little ways away so my roommates and I decided to take a trip. This is Jenny lake, the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. I didn’t think about the settings at all when I took this, it just worked. That’s why I love it.
It’s been a while. I recently decided that I want to do something in photography. thrilling. So I’m going to start posting photos and such from my travels, which of late have been pretty crazy. So. yeah.
If you ask, you’ll never know. If you know, you’ll never ask.
